Carda-Mom, Where's the Gin?

Level of Complexity: Home Bartender Friendly

Here’s another winter cocktail to enjoy in-front of the fire.

The hot toddy was thought to have been invented by the Scott’s to hide the harsh taste of whisky way back when.  That’s certainly not the case here.  We want our handcrafted Sloe Gin to shine.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz DEVINE Sloe Gin
  • 1 oz Cardamom Honey Syrup*
  • Juice of half a small lemon
  • 6 oz boiling water
  • Lemon wheel, for garnish

Method

In a glass or cup of your choosing (not too big as you don’t want the drink to dilute too much from the boiling water), pour the gin, syrup and lemon in. Top with boiling water and stir. Garnish with lemon.

*Cardamom Honey Syrup

  • 200ml honey
  • 5-6 crushed cardamom pods
  • 50 ml water

Method

Add all ingredients to a small pot and bring to a boil. Strain with a fine sieve, or you can leave the cardamom in so the flavour intensifies over time. Feel free to try other spices, the sloe gin is very versatile and goes with just about anything!
