We are often complemented on the unique design of our spirit labels. Each label is lovingly designed by Saanich Peninsula local artist, Margaret Hansen. To develop each image, Margaret uses an old art form called linocut, a traditional printmaking technique. A design is first cut into a linoleum surface with a sharp knife, v-shaped chisel or gouge. The raised areas represent the reversal (mirror image) of the parts shown printed. The linoleum sheet is then inked with a roller and printed onto paper. Margaret then digitizes each image for the production of our labels. Frames not included.
