Eggnog Flip

Level of Complexity: Home Bartender Friendly

This is a delicious, smooth, silky, quick and easy nog.  It’s shaken on ice and there’s no cream or dairy so it’s lighter and fresher than a classic nog.  It’s technically a flip cocktail. (Shaken cocktail containing a whole egg and some kind of fortified wine or liqueur).  The honey syrup ties everything together and the nocino and herbal liqueur add bitterness, layers, and richness to the cocktail.


1 oz DEVINE Black Bear Spiced Honey Rum 

0.5oz Ampersand Distillery Nocino 

0.5oz Alchemist Distillery Artemisia

.75 oz caramelized honey syrup* 

1 whole egg 


Get the fire going, turn the Christmas tree lights on and pop the turkey in the oven… then, Chill a rocks glass in the freezer.  Add everything to a shaker and dry shake, add ice and wet shake until frothy.  

Double strain over ice and sprinkle with cinnamon.  


*Caramelized Honey Syrup

Whack a small bottle of honey in a pot a bring to a bubbling boil.  Turn it down to a simmer and cook out for around 5 minutes until the colour reaches a dark golden brown.  Add 2 ounces of water and stir with a whisk.  Take off the heat and leave to cool.
